About Private utility locating
What are considered private utilities?
The law requires that before doing any sort of digging or excavating you must call digline by dialing 811. Although this free service only includes underground public utilities, which are usually from your meter to the street. Residential private utilities may include power to a shop/barn/shed or well, natural gas to a heated pool/hot tub, sewer lines and even sprinkler zones. Commercial private utilities include power to parking lot lights or building to building utilities.
